Life is short. Take the photos!
Time passes quickly. Babies grow, parents age, but the images I make are time capsules. Our lives move so fast and capturing memories for families is truly some of my most important work. The craziness, the chaos, the weird and wonderful developmental milestones, the intense love. It’s an honor to document this for the families I work with. I feel that deep down in my bones. I really believe that photographing kids might be my greatest professional work.

I reserve a 1.5 hour block of time in my calendar. The entire time does not need to be used, so please do not be scared by this information!! This reserved timeframe allows plenty of time for relaxed candids as well as group photos: everyone together, individual kid portraits, etc.

Multi family

The entire time does not need to be used, many families use less time, so please do not be scared by this information!! This reserved timeframe allows plenty of time for relaxed candids as well as group photos: everyone together, individual families/couples, individual kid portraits, etc.

Mini Sessions

At certain times of year (typically Spring and Fall), I offer 30 minute sessions for $350. New this year, I will offer mini sessions for families outside of these set dates, for $400, but they must take place at one of two locations: Brown Bridge Quiet Area or Maple Bay Natural Area. These are not designed for newborn sessions or extended families, but rather a quick no-muss-no-fuss session to capture those kiddos more often! Email me to schedule!

I’m happy to help you plan your session! Let’s set up a phone call or discuss details via email if you’d prefer. I can help brainstorm locations and provide my thoughts on the best time of day to take advantage of natural light.

Typically I spend 1-2 hours of time with families depending on their needs and group size.

I try to stay as flexible as possible with these sessions. If you have an outfit change in mind, or more than one location that you’d like to explore, I’m open to figuring out how we can make it happen! Let’s chat about it!

After the session, you’ll receive a preview within a week! I will share this preview privately via your online gallery, but may also post to my blog or Social Media sites.

After your session, I will go through all of the image files. Any shots with eyes closed or awkward positioning are removed and your final collection of images will receive professional editing services including color adjustment, exposure adjustment, straightening and minor retouching as necessary.

When your images are ready, you will receive a password protected online viewing gallery. All images are delivered as high resolution .jpg files. Downloading the high resolutions files and print ordering services are available. You are not required to order any prints of products from me. Upon payment, your images are yours to print and distribute for personal use.

I will select at least 20 images to be professionally converted to black and white. You will receive these images as copies. If we convert something to black and white, you will have the color version too (unless you have added black & white film photography to your session)

Please allow 4 weeks for full delivery. Remember you receive a preview within 1 week!
Film photography coverage offers a special aesthetic and feel that’s incredibly hard - maybe impossible - to replicate. The cameras that I use create a perfectly imperfect addition to your gallery. A truly unexpected, in-the-moment, collection of images. If you are interested in learning more or seeing more examples just ask!

A bit more about my style and philosophy
I strive to blend a photojournalistic approach with classic portraiture during each of my sessions. Yes, we will do the very best we can to create a classic, timeless, portrait with everyone looking at the camera. However, in my opinion, the magic really happens when we loosen up. When we play with our kids. Throw stones into Lake Michigan. Smell the flowers. Get ice cream or jump in the water. Don’t be afraid to wear regular, everyday clothes. Or ask me to photograph a bike ride, a picnic, or hang out time on the porch. I can’t wait to meet your family!
Courtney is a talented dream! We've been lucky enough to have known Courtney for over ten years, when we booked her as our wedding photographer. As our family has grown we've been honored to have Courtney document it as often as we can. From start to finish Courtney makes the whole experience easy, relaxed and most importantly she captures each family member in their own unique light.
